Waifit, Green Tea Extracts, and Metabolism Boosting
Green Tea Boosts Metabolism
Low energy, I assume from a sluggish metabolism, has been a real issue for me over the past 10 years or so. I am so very tired… not tired l when like when you haven’t slept enough, but completely exhausted like the energy depleted weariness of the flu. This is how I have felt every day. No wonder fat people don’t exercise?
Have you felt like that too?
I’ve done what many people do who are really tired and lack energy… I’ve turned to caffeine, consuming just enough to get me to the next nap.
Lately, I’ve been concerned about what the caffeine is doing to my health… my sugars, my moods and of course my crazy up and down energy and burn out levels.
Recently I have discovered the benefits of green tea. Not "tea bag" tea, but real chinese and japanese green, white, oolong, black and pu’erh teas from beautiful tea gardens in the Asian mountain ranges. In Asia, tea bushes are nurtured by experienced farmers and picked by hand for quality, by people who understand what the finished product will be.
Tea has quite a fascinating history, that I won’t go into. What is most interesting, for this article, is the energy that green tea gives. Yes, it has caffeine, but scientists have discovered that the caffeine in green tea doesn’t completely explain the energy. Interestingly enough, the energy experienced from green tea is longer lasting (up to six hours), and very even. So it doesn’t seem to spike and burn out. Scientists think that the caffeine is tempered by the catechins, or other nutrients found in the tea leaves.
Matcha tea has really caught my attention. It is the Japanese tea that is used in Japanese tea ceremony, and is actually a powder of the whole leaf. The metabolic boost is worth developing a taste for!
Matcha Health: Metabolism and Fat Oxidation
There are two ways to lose weight — either reduce energy intake, or increase energy expenditure.
A study featured in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition claims that matcha green tea produces a significant increase in energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism) in individuals, combined with a significant effect on fat oxidation. While some of the effects were originally attributed to the caffeine content of green tea, the researchers discovered that matcha green tea effect on energy and weight loss go beyond those that would be caused by the caffeine.
In fact, they found that consuming matcha green tea can increase thermogenesis (the body’s own rate of burning calories) from a normal 8%-10% of daily energy expenditure, to between 35% and 43% of daily energy expediture.
Of critical importance is the fact that none of the research subjects reported any side effects, and no significant differences in heart rates were noticed.
In this respect, matcha green tea is different from some of the prescription drugs for obesity, and herbal products like ephedra, which can raise heart rates and blood pressure, and are not recommended for many individuals.
Waiora’s scientific advisors obviously know the value of green tea! The WAIFIT BURN product has a green tea extract as well as other ingredients that make this metabolic booster a pleasant and healthy alternative to coffee.
Between my Matcha green tea, and Waiora’s BURN product I have energy to… well uh… to BURN! :-)
